It is a pleasure for me to welcome you to the College of the Desert - Public Safety Academy website. Our most important assets are the students in our programs. The purpose of this website is to assist you in obtaining information about the programs we offer.

College of the Desert - Public Safety Academy (COD-PSA) was founded on January 1, 2001. We provide educational opportunities in two public safety disciplines:

On March 3, 2004, the taxpayers of the Coachella Valley approved Bond Measure B which provides $346 million in bond funds to update our facilities at the college. Included in these projects is a new $29 million Public Safety Academy to be built in the northeast corner of our campus and includes a $2.5 million fire tower in Thousand Palms. Peace Officer and State Fire Marshal Certified Training will be taught at the new Public Safety Academy. The new facility will be opened on January 12, 2009. The formal dedication of the facility is scheduled for March 12, 2009 from 10:00 AM to Noon.
